Obituary

Lola May White was born July 13, 1913 in Missouri, to Cora Belle and John Henry "Tink" Gore. She was one of nine children. Like most of her generation, Lola did not have much formal education, having completed the 5th grade. In 1930 when she was 16, she met and married Preston Otis White who was ten years older than Lola. Lola and Otis instilled the notion of hard work in their children. All four children worked the fields next to their parents from a young age, helping to support their family. She also worked for a while as a cook in a hospital in Loveland, Colorado. Lola was a remarkable woman who loved life and was always eager for her next adventure. Lola enjoyed traveling, fishing, going to Las Vegas to play the slot machines and going to the senior centers to listen to music. Lola was loved by all and will be missed. She will always have a special place in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Lola May White is preceded in death by her parents, husband Otis and siblings. She is survived by five generations, including her children, Norma Jean Elom, Mary Maxine Horton, Alvin White and Mildred Criner and many grandchildren, great grand children, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren. A graveside was held on Friday, September 14, 2012 10:30am at Wasco Memorial Park for Lola May White, age 99, of Wasco, who passed away on September 10, 2012 in Bakersfield. Pastor Mike Polley officiated the service and interment followed. Visitation was held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 4-8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
