Obituary

Lola Aldeen Diseth, age 74, of Wasco, California, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Aldeen was born in Northwood, North Dakota, to Everett and Bertha (Lien) Johnson. Two/three years later Aldeen's sister Clarene was born. Aldeen had fond memories growing up in Larimore, North Dakota, attending a one-room schoolhouse where her mother taught, and being a proud Larimore High Polar Bear. After high school graduation, she worked as a teller at Elk Valley Bank in Larimore. On New Year's Eve 1960, the beautiful and sweet Aldeen went on a blind date and met the handsome and charming school teacher, Gene E. Diseth from Edmore, North Dakota. On December 30, 1961, they married and resided in Larimore where Aldeen continued to work at the bank while Gene taught sixth grade for the Emerado School District. A year later their first daughter, Brenda, was born and four years later their second daughter Denise was born. That same year Gene was offered a teaching job for the Wasco Elementary School District, so they moved to Wasco, California. Two years later, their third daughter Jadene was born. Aldeen was a stay-at-home mother until 1976 when she began working for a local Wasco bank. Throughout her 25 years as a bank teller, she befriended many customers. Aldeen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church; and a friend to all. She is survived by her husband Gene; her daughter Brenda and Billy Kirby and grandchildren Megan and Anthony Bryan, Morgan, Michelle, and Mallorie; her daughter Denise and Leonard Ortiz and granddaughter Sarah; her daughter Jadene and JT Watson and grandchildren Ashley, Weston, and Carson; and her sister Clarene and Allen Wasness of Larimore, North Dakota. Aldeen was also anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great grandson in January. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wasco followed by interment at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco on Tuesday, October 7 from 2pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wasco Community Scholarship in memory of Aldeen Diseth.
