IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Lee
Parks
April 11, 1918 – October 31, 2017
Lois Lee Parks, age 99, resident of Shafter, California, returned to God on Tuesday morning, October 31, 2017. She passed at home with her family around her. Lois was born on April 11, 1918, in Drexel, Missouri, the eldest daughter of Lee and Margaret (Stults) Coleman. Lois graduated from Drexel High School, where she met James Harlie Carr. They married in 1935. Their marriage came to a tragic end when Harlie died in 1954, leaving her with four sons. Lois was a member of First Baptist Church of Reseda, where she met Carl Francis Parks. They married in 1957. Carl had two daughters and two sons. The marriage created a blended family that became a clan. For 32 years, Lois and Carl raised a family in Tarzana, California. Lois worked as a cook in a school cafeteria for many years. The couple moved to Shafter in early 1990, and Carl passed away just two months later. In Shafter, Lois was known by all to be a very special lady. She was beloved by the many friends she made at Congregational Bible Church. Throughout her life, Lois had to overcome much misfortune: As a child, the death of her little brother, her father, and her stepfather William Carp. As a wife, the deaths of her two husbands. As a mother and grandmother, the deaths of two sons, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Loiss strength and resilience came from her lifelong relationship with God. The power of faithfully loving God is obvious to those who knew her. Children surviving Lois are Jim (Sue) Carr, David (Patty) Carr, Tom (Debbie) Carr; Linda (Fred) Starrh, Sandy Davis, and Gary Parks. Lois is also survived by 18 grandchildren and many great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren. Family awaiting Lois in heaven were husbands, Harlie and Carl; sons, Robert Bobby Carr and Lewis Louie Parks; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Carr; and grandchildren, Wayne Carr and Kristie (Carr) Bloom; and great-grandson, Jerry Unruh; her parents; sisters, Martha, Mary, and Lilias; and infant brother Bobby. The family expresses its sincere gratitude to the staff at Carrington of Shafter, who lovingly called her Grandma as well as the staff of Hoffman Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, at 10:00 am at Ford Theater, 1101 E. Lerdo Hwy., Shafter, with Rev. Mark Scialabba officiating. Burial will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation is at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy., from 2:00 - 8:00 pm today, Friday, November 3.
