Obituary

Lois Holloway was born February 4, 1914 in Wicks, Arkansas to Rufus and Fannie (Harrison) Sargent. Lois was raised in Arkansas and came to California living in Richmond then Delano and settling in Wasco in 1945. Lois married Herman Johnson in Arkansas in 1932 and he preceded her in death in 1945. She then married Henry Massingill in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1951. Lois married Gilbert "Sam" Holloway in 1964. They owned and operated the Holloway Service Station on the corner of Palm and Hwy 46. Lois and Sam loved traveling in their motor home to Laughlin, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas where she loved to play the slots at The Lady Luck. Lois was an avid fan of The Price Is Right. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing in her younger years. Lois is survived by her children, Eddie Johnson of Wasco, Hal Massingill and wife Janice of Shafter, Janelle Knox and husband Charles of Wasco, Jenice Talbert and husband Sam of Chula Vista, LaVone Sterling and husband Lee of Visalia, Betty Rawlings and husband Gary of Redlands, and Alana Morland and husband Jerry of Bakersfield; sister-in-law, Geneva Zimmer of Clovis; 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Johnson. A funeral service will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, October 4, at 10am for Lois Holloway, age 93, of Wasco who passed away September 30, 2007 in Bakersfield. Michael Johnson will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 3, from 2pm to 8pm.
