Lois Georgiana Thomas, a 70-year resident of California who lived in the Hi-Desert, including Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree, for 35 years, died Feb. 11, 2009, in her home. She was 79 years old. Born Sept. 22, 1929, in Iron Mountain, Mich., she was the daughter of Faith Williams. She was married to Herbert L. Thomas for 30 years. He preceded her in death 23 years ago. Mrs. Thomas is survived by daughter Sandra Bourgeault of Kennewick, Wash., son Robert Sheaffer of Fresno, daughter Janette Thomas Gerace of Macedon, N.Y., sister Betty Phebus of Yucca Valley, brother Lyle Hilmerson of Yucca Valley, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
