Lloyd Sidney Unruh peacefully left this world and entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father Nov. 9th, 2009. Lloyd was born on July 13, 1933 to Sam and Dora Unruh in Bakersfield, CA. He attended Greeley Elementary and Bakersfield High School. He married Barbara Becker on Aug. 7, 1953. Together they had three sons: Gary, Doug, and Brian. Lloyd was a farmer in the Rosedale area and served several years on the Rosedale Co-op Gin board. He also served as a representative to the Ranchers Cotton Oil Co-op. In his later years he worked in hay and grain sales. One of the things he enjoyed most about this career was his ability to network with other farmers on a daily basis and participate in an "information exchange" among close friends. The camaraderie he shared with his life long friends at the local coffee shop became an important part of his daily routine. He attended Rosedale Bible church all of his life and served on various committees throughout the years. Lloyd loved music and loved to sing. He sang in the church choir and in the Mennonite Men's Chorus for many years. Lloyd cherished spending time with his family, most especially, the many times he was able to take his grandchildren to Dodger games. He is survived by his wife Barbara; sister Aldean Reimer; sons Gary and wife, Judy; Doug and wife, Cindy; and Brian; grandchildren Brook Hardt, Katie Silicz, Rebecca Romero, Stephanie Caffee, Scott Unruh, and Jill Unruh; and great grandchildren, Henry Hardt, and Olivia Silicz. Also left to mourn his passings are brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends. A graveside service will be held on Monday Nov. 16th, at Shafter Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at the Rosedale Bible Church. Pallbearers are Scott Unruh, Kevin Reimer, Brian Hardt, Alex Silicz, Mike Romero, and Brady Caffee.
