Obituary

A memorial service will be held for Linda Rodman, 62, of Wasco, Saturday August 18 at 10am at the United Methodist Church of Wasco. Pastors Scott Allred and John Broad will officiate. Linda passed away August 14, 2007 in Bakersfield. Linda was born May 25, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Ernesto and Mae Lopez. She attended local schools, graduating from Granada Hills High School and going on to San Fernando Valley State College. She later attended CSU Bakersfield where she earned her Master's in Reading and a Reading Specialist Credential. In 1968 she married Ronald Rodman, and together they moved to Wasco in 1972. Linda was a school secretary at Clemens School for years and then became a first grade teacher there. She loved teaching reading and was fascinated by children's ability to learn. She also became a mentor teacher and the reading specialist, as well as AIMS facilitator and science fair chairperson. There were not many things she didn't do, she enjoyed children's projects, handy crafts, thematic units, knitting, crocheting and painting. She was a beginner of many projects, and a finisher of few! Linda will be honored with the dedication of the Rose Festival Program as she was the liaison between the Rose Festival Committee and the Rose Society. She also was the Wasco Festival children's arrangement director. She loved miniature roses and grew them as well as decorated with them, and liked growing African violets. One of the things Linda loved most, however, was her two grandchildren. Linda is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ronald; daughter, Tamara Jones and husband, Andrew of Pismo Beach and their children Molliann and Emily; and brother, Ernie Lopez and wife, Barbara of Prescott, Arizona. She is preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Woodrow.
