Obituary

Linda "Langley" McCullar, 71, was born on June 27, 1954, in Delano, California, and passed away peacefully on March 1 in Tehachapi, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ellen Langley; her three siblings, Billy, Sis, and Loretta; stepson, Travis; one grandson, Jason; and the love of her life, Gene, who often called her by the sweet nickname "Sue."

Linda grew up in the small community of Pond, California, alongside her seven siblings, where she made lifelong friends. She often spoke fondly of her childhood in the country, spending time caring for their animals and enjoying the wide, open land around her. She especially adored time with her horse, Pretty Brown. Those early years were some of her most cherished memories, filled with the simple joys of rural life. Although some did not always understand, she followed her love of wide, open spaces and chose to live that way for the rest of her life, always remaining true to herself.

She graduated from Delano High School in 1972 and later obtained her business degree. Known for her sharp mind and entrepreneurial spirit, Linda was a dreamer who believed in turning ideas into reality. Whenever she had a vision, she set the wheels in motion to bring it to life and was never afraid to start a new venture. She had a remarkable ability to see potential and possibility where others could not.

Linda was especially proud of her Native American heritage, a true Indigenous beauty. She dedicated significant time to researching her family history and worked diligently to help pave the way for her family to become enrolled members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon. This was something she held close to her heart and took great pride in sharing with her family. As a child, she also cherished spending summers with her many Native cousins, memories that remained very special to her throughout her life.

Linda was a true free spirit---- curious, observant, and always eager to soak in knowledge wherever she could find it. Her research business often took her traveling, and along the way she enjoyed stopping at casinos throughout the region, with Laughlin being her favorite.

She will be remembered most for her easygoing nature and generous heart. Her home was always open, and at different times she served as a temporary caretaker to many of her nieces and nephews, offering them support, stability, and a place where they were always welcome.

In her later years, she found joy in life's simple pleasures-trips to the beach, family gatherings, Starbucks dates with her grandson, surprising her great-grandchildren with small thoughtful gifts, and baking. Her homemade cinnamon rolls were amazing!

She is survived by her children, Paxton, Stormy (Kyle), Misty, and Josh; stepsons, Gary and Anthony; her siblings, Beaver, Debbie, Kathy, and John; grandchildren: Kirstie, Gage, Casandra, Paxton Jr., Destinie (Woody), Cody, Maddie, and Anthony; and seven beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
