Linda E. Haws was born in Arbyrd, Missouri, on November 18, 1939, to James and Vivian Fletcher. The family moved to Wasco when she was 8 years old; and she attended the local schools and graduated from Wasco High School. Linda worked for the DMV as a Control Cashier in Shafter from 1964 to 1977, Paso Robles from 1977 to 1981 and was currently in Bakersfield since 1982. Linda was very devoted to her church. She loved time spent with her nieces and nephews, family get togethers and traveling. Linda was a member of the New Life Center Church and was a past member of the Sunshine Pentecostal Church both of Bakersfield. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vivian; and her daughter, Susan. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Phil; daughter, Cindy and husband, Steve Cortright; sisters, Brenda Gray and Glenda Turner all of Bakersfield; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held at New Life Center, 4201 Stine Rd. Bakersfield, on Friday, December 28, 2007, at 10am, for Linda E. Haws, age 68, of Bakersfield, who passed away December 24, 2007, in Bakersfield. Interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
