March 4, 1942 – June 21, 2022
Linda Joyce Bergstrasser, 80, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at her home in Wasco, CA surrounded by family. Linda is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bergstrasser) Parcel; granddaughter, Christa Parcel, grandson, Zachary Jones and his wife Wendie, and great granddaughters, Jaisyn and Spencer; daughter In law, Tamera Bergstrasser; grandson Martin Bergstrasser and wife Christina, great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Adira and grandson Lawrence Bergstrasser; great nephew Justin Keeling, whom she considered as her son, and his daughter Jordan; and many close relatives and friends. Linda is predeceased by her husband, Dieter Bergstrasser; son, Mark Bergstrasser; parents, Elmer "Abraham" and Lucy Allene Keeling; brother, Jack Keeling; sisters, Geraldine Bryd, and Shelby McDaniel and grandson Sean Bergstrasser. Linda was born in Big Lake, Arkansas on March 4, 1942 and later on in her childhood moved to Wasco, CA. She graduated from Wasco High School in June of 1961. Linda worked for Homer Wence & Associates, as a secretary for approximately 2 years. In September 1961, Linda met the love of her life, Dieter Bergstrasser. Dieter was an Airman first class in the Strategic Air Command and was introduced by Linda's brother Jack, who was Dieter's Sgt. in the United States Air Force. They later married April 7, 1962 after a whirlwind romance of seven months. They later moved to Lancaster to start a family and Dieter felt the calling of the Lord to preach God's word, so they both moved to Torrance to enable them to attend the California Missionary. Baptist Institute in Bellflower, in September of 1968. While still attending the Seminary, Dieter accepted the first pastorate at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Lynwood. Linda was now in the role of Pastor's wife and now becoming a personal secretary to Dieter, which she loved dearly. In 1971, Dieter accepted the pastorate of Central Missionary Baptist Church of Wasco. Linda served as a pastor's wife for 37 years. During that Ministry, Linda served as a teacher for 13 years educating children attending Central Missionary Baptist School. Upon the school closing, Linda gained employment with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at Wasco State Prison on May 15, 1998. Linda was a Correctional Case Records Technician performing various tasks but the most noteworthy and the longest position she held was as Receptionist in the Records Department. Her beautiful demeanor and kind disposition earned her the name of " Miss Linda." She became like a mother figure to so many and an amazing friend to even more. She greeted all with a beautiful smile and a " Good Morning." She held her position there at Wasco State Prison for over 19 years until her retirement on May 2, 2017. Linda loved so many co-workers but retired to care for her husband during his battle with Alzheimer's Disease, in the last year before he went home to the Lord. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was dedicated to the teaching of God's word in every aspect. She loved spending time with her family and loved to cook for all who wanted to eat great food. Linda's specialty desserts she always shared were her peach cobbler, cinnamon rolls and best of all her German cheesecake. Upon her retirement it was so important for her to say her goodbye and love for her co-workers, that she baked 11 cheese cakes and sent individual slices to all of her friends in Records, Personnel. and the Warden's suite. Linda's grandchildren gave her great pleasure and she loved doing everything she could for them. Especially for her great granddaughters, Jaisyn and Spencer. Linda loved her church family at Shafter Missionary Baptist Church and always appreciated their continuous love, support and prayers. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her as "Oma." A celebration of life service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, July 1. 2022 at the Shafter Missionary Baptist Church, 202 Golden West Avenue in Shafter, CA. Pastor Robb Gonzales will officiate. Linda was respected, admired and loved by her family and friends. She was one of a kind and we will all miss her so very, very much. Our hope is in God; therefore we know we will all be together again one day in Heaven. What a glad reunion day that will be!
