Letha Mae Scroggins was born December 14, 1920 in Vernon, Texas to Henry and Florence (Stover) McCourt. She grew up and attended schools in Casa, Arkansas. Letha married Roy Scroggins December 4, 1937 in Arkansas and they moved to Buttonwillow in 1948 and later to Wasco. Letha worked for Thomas Jefferson school cafeteria and later for Palm Avenue School. As with many others of her time she also spent time doing field work and chopping cotton. Letha loved working in the yard and had a green thumb with her garden flowers. Her family will remember her as always on the go – with a spotless house, always kept perfectly clean. Letha was preceded in death by her husband Roy who passed away in 2001; brothers, Roy and Alvie and her great granddaughter Cassie Lynn Martin. She is survived by her son, Roy Scroggins, Jr. and wife Lois of Shafter; daughter, Rachel Reynolds and husband Clarence of Wasco; 5 grandchildren, Shari Stout, Donna Sue Martin, Daniel Martin, Janet Martin and Lori Prince;11 great grandchildren; niece, Ruby Hickman and nephew, Anthony McCourt; and many other loving family members/ A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held at Wasco Memorial Park on May 1st, 2009 at 10 am for Letha Mae Scroggins, age 88, of Wasco, who passed away April 24, 2009 in Wasco. Rev. Boyd Shepherd will officiate the service and interment will follow. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on April 30, 2009 from 2-8 pm
