IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leta Mae
Waldrip
November 7, 1927 – March 5, 2010
Leta Mae Waldrip was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on March 5, 2010. James Waldrip, her loving husband for 63 years was also there to welcome her into God's Heavenly Kingdom. Leta was a kind, selfless, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Even though she suffered greatly over the course of the last month, she could always share a beautiful smile with anyone entering her room to visit or care for her. Leta was born in Wasco, California to John and Della Frantz. She was the youngest of 6 children raised on the Frantz farm. She often spoke of her childhood on the farm. She cherished the times she spent swimming in the family reservoir with siblings, cousins, and others in the community that wanted to get cooled off during the hot summer days of Wasco. At the age of 7 she contracted polio, and credited her defeat of this dreaded disease to rehabbing in the family reservoir. Leta attended kindergarten through high school in Wasco. Leta attended the First Assembly of God church in Wasco her entire life. It was at church she met her future husband James Waldrip. James and Leta married on Nov. 26th, 1946 and eventually became the proud parents of Marilyn, Gerald, Timothy and Joan Marie Waldrip. Leta was a homemaker her entire married life, and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. She was the proud grandma of 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. She loved Christian music and she spent many years singing in church trios and the church choir. Leta was preceded in death by her parents John and Della Frantz, brothers Herbert, Harvey, and Sam Frantz, sister Ruby Hughes, son Timothy, and daughter Joan Aldridge. She is survived by her sister Zelma Story, daughter Marilyn and husband Mark Dougherty, son Gerald and wife Carolyn Waldrip, grandchildren Bryan and Michelle Waldrip, Jeff and Tracy Waldrip, Natalie Aldridge, Marcus and Tammy Dougherty, Michael and Pamela Dougherty, and Michelle Williams. The celebration service for Leta's life will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at Wasco First Assembly of God. Visitation will be held Monday, March 8, from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
