Obituary

Lester (Scottsman) Dean McDougal was born in Denmark, Arkansas on March 13, 1947 to Mary L. (Van Winkle) and Lloyd C. McDougal. Lester has been a resident of Kern County for 57 years, attended Delano High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a very proud veteran. He is a member of Free Masons of Wasco, he was well known as the "Scottsman" on the CB. He loved taking trike rides with his friends Lil and Henry whenever they weren't working on them. Linda was introduced to Lester in 1986 and they became soul mates, married in April, 1989. Lester often had "TO Do Lists, but not the normal ones, special ones that were listed for him and his active grandson, James III, to do, he loved spending time with James that kept him young and busy but he sure loved it. Lester will be missed by his loving family who will remember him as a soft spoken, never complained; quiet in his western shirt and vest. Lester "Scottsman" was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Lloyd McDougal(2002) and is survived by his caring and nurturing mother Mary and husband Elbert Burtcher, loving wife and soul mate Linda of 20 years; sons James Martin and wife Tina, Sommart; daughter Sissy; grandson James III; brothers Tommy Burtcher and wife Shannon, Eddie Burtcher and wife Barbara; sisters Rose Ann and husband Wayne Christolear, Lula Johnson, Freda McDougal, Theresa McDougal and Nannet McDougal; mother and father-in-law Mary and Gus; sister and brother-in-laws Ann and Ken Meadors; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, large extended family, numerous friends and the CB community. A Chapel Service will be held for Lester "Scottsman" McDougal, age 62 of Bakersfield, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10am at Peters Funeral Home Chapel, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy., Shafter CA, visitation will be on Monday, February 15th from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Service is pending a later date at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, CA. The family would extend a sincere and special thanks to Dr. (Bobby) Hagen and his caring staff.
