Leland was born near Buhler, Kansas and moved to the Shafter area with his parents in 1934. Leland farmed in South Shafter for over 60 years, most recently with his son Michael. He was a member of the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Nikkel Kroeker; brother, Kenneth Kroeker; children, Linda Davis, Janet Thomas, Richard Kroeker and Michael Kroeker; grandchildren, Tonya, David, Michelle, Blaine, Julianna, Jacob, Lauren, Allison; great-grandchildren, Johann, Ashley, Justin, Teddy, Brock and Landon. A memorial service will be held at Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church, 400 Kern, on Thursday, October 25 at 11am for Leland I. Kroeker, age 82, of Shafter who passed away October 22, 2012 in Bakersfield. A graveside service will precede at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24 from 4pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
