Lela Kathryn Kliewer passed away on December 4th at the age of 82. Lela Kathryn Jackson was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma in 1926 to Dessie Regina Masterson and Baker Neal Jackson. She lived in Shafter since 1946. She met her future husband, Jake Kliewer, while working in Los Angeles during W.W.II. They were married in Roswell, New Mexico, where Jake was based during the war and made their home in Shafter soon after his discharge from the army. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jake, and their three daughters, Leola Handy, Dorothy Redd, married to John Redd, and Regena Kliewer, married to Daniel Saks; and her sister Mary Childress of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by her granddaughter Elizabeth Handy, grandson Brian Hull, his wife Felicia Jackson and great-grandsons Jacob Jackson Hull and Lucas Jackson Hull; grandson Kent Hull, his wife Beth Hull and great-granddaughters Jordan Hamelin Hull and Logan Hamelin Hull; and step-grandson Bryan Redd, his wife Megan Redd and step-great-grandchildren Donovan Avery and Brennan Gareth Redd. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Shafter Cemetery on Thursday, December 10 at 10 a.m. and a Memorial Service and luncheon will follow at Valley Bible Church in Shafter at 11 a.m.
