Lee A. Jones passed away surrounded by her three children on Saturday February 3, 2024. She was born Lee Antoinette Bittner on December 21, 1950 in Grinnell, Iowa to Lyliane and Donald Bittner.

Lee was the 3rd of 9 children and in the early 1960's, the Bittner family relocated to Goleta, California. Lee graduated from San Marcos High School in 1969 and earned an associate's degree in early education at Santa Barbara Community College.

In 1972, Lee met and married the love of her life, Michael D. Jones. In 1974, they welcomed their first child, Paul. Then in 1977 They had Ginette and finally in 1979, Joshua was born. In 1985, Lee and Michael moved to Shafter, California and in 1993 she lost Michael to cancer.

After the passing of Michael, Lee entered the workforce where she worked various positions and worked her way up to assistant manager at Kmart from 1993 to 2007. Lee worked at Wasco State Prison from 2007 until her retirement in 2018. Lee especially loved her work at the prison.

After retirement, Lee enjoyed crocheting blankets for the elderly, reading books and spending time with her children, grandchildren, cats and siblings.

Lee is survived by her three children: Paul, Ginette and Joshua; her two grandchildren Ryen and Matthew and seven surviving siblings: Clark, Linda, Donita, Donald, Michael, Randy and Polly.

Lee was greeted in heaven by her loving husband Michael, her parents Lyliane and Donald as well as her baby sister Michelle.

Lee will be laid to rest on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1:00pm at Shafter Memorial Park. A viewing will precede graveside services from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, California.
