Leanord Edmond Gibson, (Pops) 83, longtime resident of Arvin, passed away April 29, 2018. Leanord was born in Red Oak, Oklahoma to Louie & Mary Agee Gibson on December 11,1934. He moved to Arvin as a small child and remained in the area until his death. He attended grade school in Arvin and graduated from Arvin High. Leanord worked as an Iceman delivering Ice in his early days and later owned and operated "Hole in The Wall Hamburger Stand" in Arvin and "Kearney Street Market" in Lamont. Pops went on to work at packing sheds in Arvin with his brother Grady Lloyd and at 76 Chevron Station in Lamont. Lastly he worked at Produced Cotton & Oil before being injured and having to medically retire. After retirement Leanord kept busy repo-ing vehicles with his son Leanord Jr. and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and shooting trap. The trips he looked forward to each year were June Lake camping where he chased those trophy trout, hitting the road to Las Vegas or an Indian Casino where Pops loved to play those penny slots and his beloved hunting trips to Colorado with family. He was always on the go and could frequently be found fishing the Aqueduct, Buena Vista, Hart Park, or Lake Ming. Pops always knew where the fish was biting! Leanord is preceded in death by his parents, Louie & Mary Agee Gibson and daughter Kimberly Denise Gibson, brothers Carl Ray Gibson and Grady Loyd Gibson. Leanord is survived by his loving wife Shirley, married May 3, 2006. Children; Leanord Faris Gibson, Louie Edmond Gibson, Lyle Ray Gibson, Jeannetta Sue, Leanord Dale Gibson, Larence Dewayne Gibson, Linda Kay Gibson, Leanord Edmond Gibson Jr. and Cindy Gail Davis. 29 Grandchildren; Sheila Nicole, Amber Lenn, Joshua Louie, Benjamin Louie, Elizabeth Lynn, Kristopher James, Stephanie Rena, Stephen Dale, Carol Annette, Nathan Edward, Charity Vanessa, Lynetta Rachel, Laura Michelle, Lacey Dawn, Lila Marie, Leanord Dale Jr, Leanza Rennae, Haley Lorraine, Kjersti Lisabeth, Tara Marie, Breanna E, Lindsey Renae, Adrien McKenzie, Katie Lynn, Leilan Mathew, Jay Davis, Michelle Davis, Brian Davis, and Stormi Davis. 31 Plus Great Grand Children as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leanord is loved by his family and friends and will be truly missed. His smile was contagious and his laughter infectious.
