IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence Arthur
Schneider
March 25, 1927 – June 21, 2011
Lawrence Joseph Schneider was born March 25th 1927, in Pierce City Missouri and passed away on June 21st 2011 in Bakersfield, CA. His family moved to California 6 months after his birth. At age 9, they moved to Troutdale Oregon. Our country was fighting WWII when he was drafted into the army on May 26th, 1945. He was 18 years old. He was assigned to Camp Roberts, CA for his basic training, and then stationed at the army base in Alaska. The war ended, and he returned to his family who had moved to Bakersfield while he was serving his country. He was honorably discharged on December 16th, 1946. He made his career as a sheet metal craftsman. He was an artist with his craft. It's been said that if you had a design/build problem, he was your guy. He retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Association, Local 105 in 1983. He eventually fell in love with his baby sister's best friend, Burnettie Daniels. They married on June 1st, 1957. They made their home on Kentucky St. with Burnetttie's son Ricky. They also had a son, Michael that passed away shortly after his birth and Burnettie preceded Lawrence in death in 1967. He remained in the home they shared for the next 50 years, only leaving when his health would not allow him to live alone any longer. Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife Burnettie, his son Michael, his parents Paul and Elsie, his two brothers Edward and James, and his twin siblings that died shortly after their birth. He is survived by his sister Marguerite Spears and her husband Bud, and their children and families; Kathy and Jerry Melson, their son Wayne and daughter Lora Larkin, Jimmy Spears, his children Brent, Travis, Troy, and daughter Nicole West, and Judy and Tom Wonderly, their sons Bryan and Darren, as well as their families, and his stepson Richard Worth. Lawrence was a unique person, "tuff" to his core, he lived by his own set of principles. He didn't expect anything from anyone, but he was always there for his family. He could recall every date and detail from our family's history. His eccentric ways will always be remembered and greatly missed by our family, especially on our camping trips. 10 am Mass of the Resurrection, for Lawrence Joseph Schneider, age 84, of Bakersfield, will be on Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, officiated by Father John, with interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 3 to 6pm.
