He resided in Kern County seventy years; Arvin nineteen years and Bakersfield fifty-one years. He was preceded in death by his wife Amelia and son Lance Marmolejo, his mother Maria G. and father Marion L. Marmolejo, and other family loved ones. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters, numerous brother/sister in-laws, nephews, nieces, and godchildren. In Nino's life, he had three godchildren that were special to him and he loved them as his own children; John Pimienta Jr., Leticia Castro and Lori Sumner. He was thankful for John and Dolores Pimienta, his brother in-law and sister in-law who helped care for him twenty years after his wife's death. Lawrence and Amelia met at Arvin High School and were teen sweethearts. They were married on August 11, 1963, loved each other and were faithful to one another until the day their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called them home to Heaven. They are together and rejoicing once again. He was employed at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Nutrition/Food Services Department and retired after thirty-two years. As a young man he played baseball for a men's league and later in life he coached for the boy's baseball little league. He also enjoyed listening to Oldies but Goodies and he was a great dancer. He was an enthusiastic sports fan; he cheered for the Dodgers, Lakers and Rams. Lawrence was a kind hearted, friendly, hardworking and giving man. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, mask covering and social distancing of 6 feet apart are required at all times. Please refrain from hugging and hand shaking. If you have a fever or are feeling ill, we kindly ask of you not to attend the funeral services. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
