Lavada
Prickett
September 16, 1924 – February 2, 2017
Lavada Prickett was born September 16, 1924 in McAlester, Oklahoma one of eleven children born to Oscar and Rdella Davis. She married Charles "Chick" Prickett in Oklahoma and they moved to California in 1943 and they worked as migrant farm laborers and eventually settled in McFarland. Lavada worked for Paramount Farms for 26 years and was promoted to floor supervisor. After she retired, she moved to Wasco. She loved to garden and canned the harvest which she shared with her family. She also loved to crochet and everyone in the family owned a pair of slippers. She was a very good cook. Lavada had a good soul and everybody that knew her loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings and by her husband, Chick who passed away in 1974. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Journey of Bakersfield and brother, Norman Davis of Oklahoma; and over 100 nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care she was given by her niece, Norma Womack and great nieces, Brandi and Renee. A graveside service will be held at North Kern District Cemetery, 624 Austin St., Delano on Tuesday, Feb 7 at 1pm for Lavada Prickett, age 92, of Bakersfield who passed away February 2, 2017. Pastor Jack Stewart of the East Bakersfield Church of Christ will officiate the service and interment will follow. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy, Shafter on Monday, Feb. 6 from 2pm to 8pm.
