IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laurena L
Bangloy
January 9, 1922 – January 5, 2019
Mom, Laurena L. Bangloy, passed into the presences of the Lord very peacefully after a day of being surrounded by her family on January 5, 2019. Mom was born in Payac, Jones, Isabela in the Philippines on January 9, 1922. Mom loved school and had inspirations to attend the University but those dreams were cut short by the global conflict and the occupation of the Philippines. Circumstances changed after A young Filipino Soldier of the 2nd US Filipino Battalion, with whom she had been corresponding before the war made his way to her province and proposed. They were soon married and my Father immediately petitioned for her to immigrate to the United States. Mom landed in a country that she had read and heard about and started her dream. Mom became a hard worker and a contributor. She asked for nothing because there was nowhere to turn if you couldn't make it on your own. Mom said "if I only have rice and beans to eat I'll be happy". In her lifetime Mom fulfilled her dream of obtaining her United States Citizenship and owning her own home. She was always happy. Her favorite saying was, "God Knows". She is best described by comedian Jo Koy's depiction of a Filipino Mother. From her marriage to Irineo R Bangloy 2 sons were born; Irineo L. Bangloy Jr (wife Linda) and Apolinario L. Bangloy (wife Pamela). Others who will have great remembrances of Mom are grandsons Eric, Anthony (Rose), AJ (Kim), and Mark (Reina) Bangloy. Great grandchildren Dean, Aleena, Hailie, Anthony Jr, Luke, Sophie and Joycelyn Bangloy. Also many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be on January 14th from 4-6 pm with a rosary at 6 pm at Peters Funeral Home, 600 Tucker Street, Arvin, CA. Services will be on January 15th at 10 am at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 350 E Bear Mountain Blvd, Arvin with interment immediately following at the Arvin District Cemetery 15543 S Vineland Rd.
