Laura was born on July 22, 1939 in Arkansas to George and Florence (Swearingen) Ashbrooks and moved to California with her family when she was in grammar school. Laura received her education in Buttonwillow. Laura is survived by her daughters, Brenda Camp of Lake Isabella, Beverly VanDyke of Shafter, and Patricia Garza of Wasco; brother, Billy Ashbrooks of Shafter; sister, Linda Sue Pace of Hanford; three step-children, Charles VanDyke of Texas, Wanda Boldine of Texas and Kenneth Webb of Tennessee; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Laura is preceded in death by her husband Charles VanDyke; her parents; a sister and three brothers. There will be a memorial service held for Laura Edith VanDyke, age 69, on Friday, August 15 at 2pm at Westside Park in Wasco. Pastor Downey of Sounds of Pentecost United Pentecostal Church of God will officiate the service.
