Laura Lynette (Burns) Ratzlaff was born to Leonard and Doris Burns in Wasco, CA. She grew up in the Church of Christ with her younger sister, Leann in the country side and graduated from Wasco High School in 1980. She worked in Karl Clemens Elementary as a teacher's aid and "yard lady" for a couple years. Laura enjoyed photography, playing the flute, and going to Pismo Beach. She loved her large family many living in California, Texas, animal, arts and crafts, and going to concerts. Laura married Steven Ratzlaff (of Shafter, CA) in 1985 and moved to Bakersfield, CA. She became a Homemaker and they had one daughter, Dayna in 1988. In September 2009, Laura was diagnosed with cancer. She battled with it for four and a half years. Laura never lost hope and fought strongly until the very end, surrounded by her loving family. Laura is survived by her husband Steven Ratzlaff, daughter and son-in-law Dayna and Robert Fox, II, father and mother Leonard and Doris Burns, sister and brother-in-law- Leann and Mark Keeley with sons, Jeremiah and Elijah. She leaves special aunts and uncles Jennie and Marvin Burns, Pat and Bob Riggins, Karen Ross, great aunt and uncle Verna and Max Caddenhead. Also cousins Angie Wooten, Kevin and Shel and Kevin C. Other special people in Laura's life are her mother in-law- and father-in-law Lucy and Roy Ratzlaff, sister-in-law and brother in-law Louise and Ron Brummett with children Randi and Mathew, sister in-law Boni Slivkoff with children Joanna, Lyndsey and Joseph. She also leaves behind many special friends. Special thanks to CBCC and Hoffman Hospice. A graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park and Interment will follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
