IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lassie Evelyn
Samuel
June 22, 1927 – August 19, 2011
On June 22, 1927 Lassie Evelyn Samuel was born into a large family. As the eldest female child she learned to be accomplished in many tasks and to care for others, traits she maintained for life. One of her greatest lifetime accomplishments was her ability to cook wonderful food. As late as last Christmas she insisted on making candy for family and friends. Lassie married young to cowboy and later rancher, Jack Samuel. They had a rich and varied life, had three children together and lived on cattle ranches in California, Oregon and Montana. Wherever she lived with her family she always became involved and participated in community activities. For her children she was always available as mentor and aid. An open and giving person, she was universally liked and loved. Born in Lost Hills, Lassie along with her husband, never ventured for long from Kern County. Her last few years were spent happily in the mountains of Tehachapi with family and her little dog, Elmer. Lassie is survived by two sisters, Elva Preston and Jessie Warner; her children, Ron Samuel, Jacquelyn Samuel, and Bill Samuel and his wife Isabel; her two grandchildren, Diana and Rosemary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2011, at Wasco Memorial Park at 10:30am. All who knew or cared for Lassie are invited to the ceremony and reception.
