Larry Robertson was born on August 10, 1927 in Prescott, Arizona to Ruth (Pettigrew) and Fred Robertson. Larry gave his life to Jesus and was saved by the blood at age 15 in Glendale, Arizona. Larry graduated from Paso Robles High School and he served our country during World War II in the US Navy from 1943 to July 26, 1946 when he was honorable discharged from the US Naval Hospital in Oakland. He worked as an independent salesman for over 40 years in the insurance industry. One of the best things that ever happened to him was falling in love and marring his wife Mae Dean (Wilcox) Robertson on June 12, 1949. Larry enjoyed hunting fishing, camping, going to Morro Bay and spending time with his family. He was a member of the VFW Post 6742, Wasco and Disabled American Veterans #20, Bakersfield. He wanted to be remembered for his service to his country, community and caring for others. Larry Robertson was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John D. Robertson and sister, Ruth Le May. He is survived by his loving wife Mae Dean Robertson of Bakersfield; son, Gerald Robertson of Janesville; granddaughters, Erin Robertson, Samantha and husband Frank Bonham; six great grandchildren; and sister, Freda Blakley of Springfield, Missouri, A funeral service will be held at Grace Community Church on August 27, 2010 at 2 pm for Larry P. Robertson,age 83, of Bakersfield, who passed away August 19, 2010 in Bakersfield. Pastor Joseph Cardamone will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 2-8 pm.
