IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Ray
Johnson
September 27, 1944 – April 24, 2010
Larry Ray Johnson peacefully fell asleep surrounded by his family on the morning of April 24, 2010. He was born in Missouri on September 27, 1944 to Edna Mae (Moore) and Orin J. Johnson. At the age of 10 he came to Kern County via Lamont and attended the local schools; he started working at a very young age as a farm laborer; hoeing and picking cotton, later the Hathaway Family employed him in the oil-petroleum industry with Pyramid Company out of Fresno, where he retired as superintendent of production for 34 years. Larry was a private, quiet man who enjoyed listening to country music, spending time with his nephews; sharing funny stories about his life and pulling practical jokes whenever he found an opportunity. If Larry had a wrench in his hand, he was heading toward an old tractor or car to work on. Sunday mornings were spent at the local swap meet finding treasures; he was a gun collector. He looked forward to vacation, spending a couple of weeks in Klamath Falls, Oregon with his brother Ron. Larry R. Johnson was preceded in death by sisters, Lilly Stanley (1984) and Essie Tuck (1989); survived by brothers, Ronald, Eugene and wife Marge of Illinois, sister Jewel White and sister-in-law Karen, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held for Larry Ray Johnson, age 65 of Bakersfield, Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 2 to 8pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary Chapel. The family will have a graveside memorial service at a later date
