In Loving Memory of Larry George Dieter
April 18, 1937 – June 10, 2025

Larry George Dieter, a lifelong resident of Wasco, California, passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on April 18, 1937, to George and Emma Dieter, Larry was a proud graduate of Wasco High School, Class of 1955.

In 1960, Larry married the love of his life, Linda Ann Porter. They shared 60 wonderful years together before her passing in 2020. Together, they raised three children: Mark Dieter of Visalia, CA; Jennifer Ogborn of Bakersfield, CA; and Stephanie Parker and her husband Steve of Taft, CA.

Larry was a proud grandfather to Madison, Brooklyn, and Christopher Dieter, Andrew, Cambria, and Brody Parker, Jacob Ecret and Jaylund DeLeon. His legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren, Anthony and Renae Ecret.

Larry had two siblings, Ron Dieter, who resides in Bakersfield, CA and Marilyn Gassaway, who preceded him in death in October 2024.

Larry worked for over 40 years at Jeffries Brothers, where he was known for his dedication and reliability as he transported petroleum products to local farms and businesses. Outside of work, he was well known in the community as a skilled 3rd baseman and pitcher for the Wasco Men's Fastpitch Softball Team during his younger years.

Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus for the St. John's Catholic Church.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: reading the newspaper every morning and spending time in his woodshop, where he showcased his talent as a gifted woodworking hobbyist.  He enjoyed going on long drives and spending time at the beach.

Larry will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, fabulous yard, and the deep love he had for his family and hometown.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasco Memorial Cemetery.
