Kenneth (Ken) Merrill Cannon was born April 4, 1928, in Los Angeles, California to parents, Vernon and Frankie Cannon. As a child, Ken's family moved to Wasco, California, where he attended local schools. Shortly after graduating from Wasco High School in 1946, Ken enlisted and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the military, Ken began his 27-year career as a manager of telecommunications with AT&T. The highlight of his career occurred shortly before his retirement, where Ken was involved in setting up the telecommunications necessary for the landing of The Space Shuttle Columbia at Rogers Dry Lakebed at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Ken had two children, Curt Cannon and Cindy Loth, with his first wife Donna. After dating for several years, Ken married Adeline Castro on October 4, 1980 and inherited her large and loving family. Ken was an active man and had many hobbies including writing and publishing several articles for The Bakersfield Californian, practicing amateur photography, golfing, camping and fishing, skiing at Lake Tahoe, writing short stories, participating as a member of the Lion's Club, and defending his estate from gophers. After just recently celebrating 40-years of marriage with Adeline, Ken passed peacefully in her company on October 8, 2020. He was preceded in death by his son, Curt, stepsons Delavan Lachman and Patrick Malley and is survived by wife Adeline, stepchildren Kathleen Mulkey, Edward Malley, Sally Wright, Marjorie Hulsey, Mary Roland, daughter Cindy, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ken was an amazing man and loved by all. He will be missed, but not forgotten; may he rest in peace.
