Kathleen M. Licher was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Los Angeles to Robert F. Riley and Dolores Dewalt Riley. She moved to Yucca Valley April 1, 1971, with her husband, Jon Licher. Mrs. Licher worked as a teacher's aide for the Morongo Unified School District for approximately six years.. She also was employed for Wal-Mart for eight years. She most recently worked for Jon Licher Investigations as a co-owner. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jon Licher; daughter Linda, son-in-law David of Calgary, Alberta, granddaughters Juliette and Joceline. She also is survived by her stepdaughter, Cheryl Rindt, husband Ron and grandchildren Brian and Alicia Rock of Tracy; and brother Robert Riley of La Habra. Her parents, Robert and Dolores Riley, preceded her in death. Mrs. Licher was an active and adventurous individual. Her favorite activities included gold mining with The First Class Miners and Valley Prospectors, camping and traveling to new destinations. After retirement, she traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska and Canada. Her family expressed its appreciation to the Visiting Nurse Association, The First Class Miners and the family and friends who surrounded Mrs. Licher with love during her final days. She died peacefully at home on Feb. 9, 2009, after a very brief and courageous battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Visiting Nurse Association hospice. A funeral will be held Feb. 17 in Saint Christopher's Catholic Church at 61261 Sunburst Drive in Joshua Tree. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and Mass from 10 to 11 a..m.
