Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Larain Joe was born February 25, 1947, in Bakersfield, California to Edwin and Gloria Joe. Kathy passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023. She went through the Bakersfield school system and was a proud Driller and BC Renegade where she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. She immediately followed her calling joining the staff at the BC Childhood Development Center. Her career there lasted thirty plus years. She did take a few breaks along the way to visit Family in Louisiana and even a chance to visit Mardi Gras. She also volunteered to serve overseas in Germany at a U.S. Army base for two years to once again work with young children and was able to take weekend trips to nearby countries. Kathy had a servant's heart and watched over care for her mom, dad and Fred's mom in their latter years. She had three loves in her life: Family, baking and her beloved cats. One of her greatest pride and joy was the arrival of her great nephew Lincoln. He could do no wrong and was her Wunderkind. She also served with the Cessna-Sargent ex P.O.W.'s to honor both of her parents who faithfully served our country in WWII. Kathy endured many medical challenges in her adult life which eventually limited her mobility. She became a faithful shopper of the QVC network, way before online shopping became a necessity. All of her friends and Family were used to receiving her signature gifts for all reasons and seasons - every shape, size and color of LocknLocks! We're all going to miss her loving and caring heart.

A special thank you to her church friends Gaye Galyan and Stacy Russell for being there for her and to the healthcare professionals at Brookdale for their kind and compassionate care over the last eighteen months.

Kathy leaves behind her sister and caregiver for the past several years Charlene (Fred) Misono, her brother E.C. (Christy) Joe, niece Misa (Josh) Misono-MacAdam and nephews Rob (Anita) Misono and Layton and Christopher Joe, and her favorite everything, great nephew Lincoln.

Per Kathy's wishes, there will be no services.
