Karen Joanne Hornbuckle, 70, of Frisco, TX, formerly of Bakersfield, CA, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Centennial Medical Center. Her wish was to return to California where she will be buried next to her family in the Wasco Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Karen was born November 3, 1944 in San Bernardino, CA, the daughter of Victor and Violet Wilke. She made her home in Wasco where she raised her three children. She worked as a Superintendents Office Secretary for many years and then retired due to health reasons. She was an amazing daughter, sister and mother. Her favorite thing was spending time with family. She had amazing friends who supported her through all trials of her life. She loved people and would invite almost anyone to sit and chat. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Donna Bloemhof. She is survived by her son, Michael Hornbuckle, Mesa, AZ; Dawn Duda and her husband Frank, Frisco, TX; Robert Hornbuckle and his wife Mary Kay, Ventura, CA; grandchildren, Alisha Alberts, Janel Hornbuckle, Alexis Duda, Alyssa Duda, Sydney Hornbuckle and Reese Hornbuckle; as well as her niece Sherry Escalante and her husband Tim; and their children Timmy, Ryan and Nicole Escalante. Services will be held this Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasco Cemetery. Pastor Bill Lewis of the Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, Wasco will officiate. Viewing is available Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 1401 7th Street, Wasco, CA 93280. (661-758-5144).
