Julian Munoz was born January 28, 1923 in Longdale, California to Pantalion and Severa (Santoya) Munoz. The family moved to Wasco in 1927. Julian served our country in the Army Air Force during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Upon returning from service Julian married Augustina Olvera July 3, 1947 and they continued to make Wasco their home. He began his 33-year career with the City of Wasco in 1951 and worked his way up to director of Public Works when he retired in 1984. Every year Julian would drive his 1939 Chevrolet in the Rose Parade. He liked fishing, traveling and gambling and no trip on his return from Phoenix to visit relatives would be complete without a stop at Laughlin. Julian was a loving and caring, husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He was strong-willed, but compassionate and taught his girls to be independent. Julian also instilled in his daughters the importance of going to church, for which he set the example.
