Julia was born in Bakersfield, CA on March 28, 1975, to parents, Richard S. Rodriguez and Ismelda Gutierrez. She married Jesus Luna in Las Vegas, NV on October 29, 1996. The couple has resided in Shafter and raised their family here. Julia was a strong willed woman, she spoke her mind and had no problem telling it like it is. She was also a loving woman, who cherished those closest to her, and absolutely loved being a grandma. Julia worked as a medical assistant when she was able to, and in her off time, she enjoyed watching the Raiders play and listening to music was another favorite pastime; her favorites included country and of course her Spanish music. Julia and Jesus lost their son, Jesus "Chuy" Luna II, just a few months ago, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Ismelda Gutierrez. Julia is survived by her father, Richard S. Rodriguez; her husband, Jesus; their daughter, Vanessa Luna and boyfriend, Fernando Chavez; along with grandchildren, Marina and Fernando. Julia is also survived by Chuy's fiance, Gabby, along with a third grandchild, on the way, Catalina; and one sister, Lisa Rodriguez and her significant other, Josh Cortez. Julia died at her home in Shafter, on January 23, 2021. Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Therese Catholic Church in Shafter, and Father Jose Luis Rico will officiate. She will be dearly missed.
