Obituary

Juanita "Jamie" Moreno was born in Sunnyside, Washington, on June 25, 1957, to Demetrio and Lina Moreno. She graduated from Shafter High; after high school she attended Bakersfield College and the University of San Diego. Jamie was very patriotic and fully supported all US Vets regardless of when they served; she loved the United States of America. She was an excellent tamale maker and enjoyed making them with her mother; she would often spend time gardening and cleaning her mother's yard. She also loved quilting and making blankets for family and friends. She loved going to Lemoore to gamble the "Slots" with her sisters. She collected pigs and especially liked collecting "Miss Piggy's". Jamie was preceded in death by her father, Demetrio (2006); brother, Freddie (2002), and Uncle Frank Rodriguez, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Lina; brother, Roy Moreno; sisters, Diane Reyna, and Becky Garcia and husband, Fernando all of Shafter; brothers, Paul Moreno and wife, Dolores, J. R. Moreno and wife, Shirley, Ramon Moreno and wife, Angela; sister, Rosemary Moreno and companion, Matilda all of Bakersfield, and Francis Gonzalez and husband Beto, whom she considered her family; also included and sharing in Jamie's life are special friends and family members, Terri Stephens, Campos, John Kadel, Joann Munoz, special nephew, Tony Moreno, Elias Lopez and Pablo Stephens; special nieces, Lil' Lina Lopez, and Tio Omar; there are also many other loving family members and friends that love and will miss Jamie. The Moreno family is escpeciallly appreciative of the Hoffman Hospice caregivers, Jennifer, Gaby, Chris and Tess. A funeral service will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Friday, July 20, 2007, at 11am, for Juanita "Jamie" Moreno, age 50, of Shafter, who passed away July 17, 2007, in Shafter.
