Juanita Crook was born September 27, 1933 in Pottawatomie, Oklahoma to L. C. and Dollie (Lucas) Smith. The family moved to California in mid 1940s and made Wasco their home. Juanita married J. C. Crook June 10, 1955 and Juanita served her family as a homemaker. Juanita enjoyed quilting, cooking and reading romance novels. Juanita is survived by her husband of 53 years, J. C. Crook; daughters, Kimberly Branch and husband Dickie of Bakersfield and Teresa Ringer and husband Jeff of Morro Bay; brothers, M.C. Smith of Antlers, Oklahoma, Sterling Smith of Wasco and Melvin Smith of Eufala, Oklahoma; grandchildren Kelly Ringer of San Luis Obispo, Brandon Ringer of Morro Bay and Jacob and Jessica Branch of Bakersfield. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. Smith and Dollie Smith; sister, Winifred Montgomery; and brother B.J. Smith. A funeral Service will be held at Peters Funeral Home on May 14, 2009 at 9 am for Juanita Crook, age 75 of Wasco, who passed the away May 10, 2009 in Bakersfield. Pastor John Ross of Westside Family Fellowship will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on May 13, 2009 from 2-8 pm.
