Juana Arce Manriquez passed away quietly surrounded by her family on March 25, 2010, her Lord and Savior has embraced and welcomed her. Juana met and married the man she fell in love with, Samuel Manriquez they came to Lamont in 1961 and 36 years later Samuel met the Lord. Juana was very active, working in her garden nurturing every flower with detail and attention. She was farm laborer for many years and stopped working to care for her grandson, Phillip while his mother Maria worked full time. She had a good sense of humor carrying an optimistic spirit in any occasion even through her own battle with leukemia (diagnosed 09/09). She was willing to help with anything that anyone needed help with, offering whatever she had. Juana was a great believer in God, had a candle lit at home most of the time and recited her rosary daily and a long time parishioner of Saint Augustine Church. As a loving wife, supportive mom, nurturing grandmother/nanny and a wonderful best friend, Juana will be missed very much. Juana Arce Manriquez was preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel Manriquez (2/1997). Surviving family includes her niece whom she helped raise, Maria and grandson Phillip Viramontes; brother-in-law Isaias Manriquez; sister-in-law Florentina Manriquez; Niece Lidia Flores whom she also helped raise and her family; and many other nieces and nephews. Father John Schmoll will officiate Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, March 29, 2010 – 10am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Lamont and interment will immediately follow at South Kern Cemetery District. Arvin Funeral Home will host visitation in their chapel for Juana Arce Manriquez, age 74, Sunday evening, March 28, 2010 from 5 to 8pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm.
