Juan Gilberto Lopez was born on February 2, 1948 to Juan Lopez and Flavia Perez in Edcouch, Texas. He was raised in a small town called La Villa, Texas. Juan was called to his Eternal Rest on March 13, 2014. Juan loved to serve his Lord. He loved and adored his family. Juan was always the first to help you out in your time of need. He had such a compassionate heart. He was such a hard working man. At the age of 14 he left home to go live with his aunt Aurelia, in West Texas to work to help his parents financially. In the spring of 1965 his parents decided to move to Shafter, to seek a better life for their children. Juan worked numerous jobs until he landed a job with the Richland School District. He worked as a gardener, custodian, and bus driver. He also worked for Rio Bravo-Greeley School District as a part-time custodian for several years. Kind, warm, sweet, loving, helpful, funny, just a few words that describe the kind of man Juan was. Juan is survived by his lovely wife Maria Del Carmen, his son Homero and his fiance Danielle, his son German and his wife Martha. His grandchildren Brandon, Ivan, Allison, Ethan, Evan and Edith; his brothers Jose (Olimpia), Estevan (Lupe), Ricardo (Lydia), Alejandro (Teresa), Ramiro (Jackie), Raul (Esther); his sisters Josie Arvizo (Bentura), Raquel Gutierrez (Adan) and Diana Garcia (Lupe). Juan was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Flavia Lopez, his brothers Ruben and Fernando Lopez. Juan will be missed by his family and numerous nieces, and nephews and many, many wonderful friends. Juan you will truly be missed. The Mass of the Resurrection will be officiated by Father David Enriquez at St. Theresas Catholic Church on Thursday March 20, 2014 at 10am. A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at Peters Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm.
