Joyce E Fields/Holman Life Story Joyce Evelyne Fields Holman of Bakersfield, California, passed away October 21, 2020 at the age of 82. She was born January 11, 1938, in Direct, Texas, the second child of Reverend Obed and Florence Green. Joyce grew up in a pastor's home and experienced the building of several churches in her parent's ministry. Joyce met and married Kenneth Dwane Fields at the age of 15. Together they evangelized and pastored several churches throughout Arizona and California in addition to planting the First United Pentecostal Church of Oxnard, California which they pastored for 31 years. Joyce served as UPC Western District Section 5 Ladies Auxiliary Director, compiled the Ladies Auxiliary cookbook and was a speaker at Ladies Conference at Mount Hermon, California. Joyce wrote 2 articles entitled "Ties that Bind" which was published in the UPCI Reflection Ladies Magazine and "My Tribute/To God Be the Glory" published in the Gospel Tidings. She faithfully served as principal of Pleasant Valley Christian Academy for 9 years. She played piano, organ, accordion and sang throughout her life. Joyce made thousands of tamales, peanut brittle patties, organized many church yard sales and other fundraisers and events throughout the years. Her beloved husband Kenneth passed away in 2000. In 2002, Joyce married Denzil R. Holman and together they made several preaching tours across the U.S. and worked for the Pentecostal Publishing House Book Store at various district meetings as well as General Conference. In 2008, they established the River of Life Fellowship in Bakersfield, California where she continued until her passing. Anyone that was acquainted with her, knows she loved to shop. She dressed in classy clothes and had an eye for design. She was quite the interior decorator throughout her life and made everything look beautiful. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and was always the ultimate host to many friends and family that came into her home. Joyce is survived by her husband Denzil R Holman of Bakersfield; children by Kenneth D Fields; Karon and husband, David, Ronda and husband, John, Kenneth Jr and wife, Patty, Denzil Holman's children; Randy and wife Brittany, Tami and husband Terry, Joyce's Grandchildren; Joya and husband Greg, David and wife April, Kara and husband Armando, Kenneth III, Jessica and husband Jake, Denzil's grandchildren; Tobin, Cooper, Cody, Levi, Brittany, Alexis, Joyce's great grandchildren; Chloe, Sierra, Chase, Kayla, Brody, Whitney, Benjamin, Autumn, Kenneth IV, Odin, Denzil's great grandchildren; Samuel, Harmonee, Brinlee, Hunter, Natalie, Gunner, Makenna, Makenzee and Colton. She is survived by a host of friends and family. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Dwane Fields, Daughter Darla Rebecca, Father Obed Green, Mother Florence Green/Emberlin, Brother Jerry Green, Sister Betty Hassell Bealert and Denzil's son, Greg Holman. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00PM, Friday, November 6, 2020 at United Pentecostal Church of Oxnard, California.
