Obituary

Joshua Ray Lewis was born on July 19th, 1984 in Bakersfield, California to his parents William and Victoria Lewis. Joshua grew up in Kern Valley where he enjoyed playing soccer, football, riding his bikes and hanging out with the family. After graduating high School in 2002, Joshua met the love of his life, Angela Hellyer, and joined together in marriage on December 18th 2004. Josh had served in the Airforce for the first 9 years of their marriage and was proud to be father to both his daughters, Mikayla and Abigail. The military life took the family all over the United States from Florida to California and as far as New Jersey. He had also volunteered for duty in the Middle East. In February of 2013, Joshua left the service and moved to Arizona with his family. It was there that he would receive his Bachelors degree in History through Ashford University. He would later receive a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling through Liberty University. Joshua had a great love for history as well as a strong thirst for knowledge. Education seemed to be his passion as he had just became a full-time 1st Grade Elementary teacher. Joshua loved getting out with the girls whenever he could. Sometimes it was to the zoo, the movies, a baseball game, and even football at the Cardinals stadium. He enjoyed hiking, camping, and fishing. As an electrician in the Air Force, Joshua kept that passion alive and, he would often sit out on the porch working on some kind of electronic component. No words can describe how loved Joshua is by all and how missed he will be. Joshua passed away on September 18th, 2016. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bonnie Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Mikayla and Abigail; parents, William and Victoria Lewis; siblings, Heather and husband Beau Bishop, and Megan Lewis; his grandparents, Robert and Nancy Jose, and John Lewis. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10am, at Daybreak Baptist Church, 5446 Taft Hwy. Bakersfield, California 93313. Pastor Deryl Lackey officiated the service and a private family interment was held at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
