Joseph Thomas Powers, a 10-year resident of California and one-year resident of Yucca Valley, died Jan. 7, 2011, in Yucca Valley because of an accident. He was 36 years old. The son of Donald Nolan Powers and Linda Parker Tyree, he was born April 28, 1974, in Biringham, Ala. Mr. Powers was a windmill technician for AES Wind Generation for two years. His father preceded him in death three years ago. Mr. Powers is survived by daughter Shieann Powers of Yucca Valley, mother Linda Parker-Tyree of Yucca Valley, brother Christopher Donald Powers of Birmingham, Ala., sister Angela Powers of Cathedral City and nieces and nephews. A private family celebration of life will be held. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local no-kill animal shelter.
