Joe Beelner was born February 2, 1954 in Slayton, Minnesota one of five children born to Joyce (Peterson) and Roman Beelner. The family moved to Wasco in 1965 and Joe attended St. John's School and graduated from Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1972, where he was named "Best Personality" in the Senior Favorites. It was this winning personality that served him well throughout his life; he never met a stranger and if you were a friend, you were a friend forever. Joe never forgot your name. Joe enjoyed sports, playing football and baseball in his younger days and watching his favorite teams, the Vikings and Twins, and playing golf in the later years. Joe was hard working and a good provider, working for (Shell) and Aera Energy for the last 27 years. Joe was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, member of the Wasco 20/30 Club, Little League Coach and Girls Softball Coach. Joe and Christine Reaves were married September 22, 1988 in Bakersfield and he became father to Joe and Shera, a dedicated family man, he always put family first. Joe attended the sporting events and baton performances not only of his children but also those of his nieces. They loved and adored him and each thought they were the "most special person in his life". Extended family activities included waterskiing at Bass Lake, a family favorite, and playing cards and dice. As much as he loved his children, becoming "Papa" was the blessing of his life, and the grandkids were his first love. Joe is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christine; children, Joe Lee & wife Kabrina and Shera & husband Tim Fagundes; grandchildren, Kendrick, Isaiah, Joey and Jacob; brother, Jack Beelner; sister, Jayne & husband Kevin Streiff; parents-in-law, Margaret & Orvilee Reaves; brother-in-law, Bryan Reaves & wife Lupe and Willard Lee; nieces and nephews, Janelle & Ken, Maureen & David, Michelle & Christian, Cassie & Mark, Lori & Bart, Lil Bryan, Brianne & Adrian. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Joyce; sister Jill and brother Jerry; and sister-in-law, Kathy Lee. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe's name to Hoffman Hospice, Wasco Community Scholarship Association (Beelner Family Scholarship) or the Wasco Tiger Football Boosters. To say thank you is not enough, but the family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care Joe received from Golden Living Center and Hoffman Hospice, San Joaquin Hospital for their amazing care of the family and Joe, and Dr. Komin and his entire staff for their caring compassion. Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, August 15, at 6pm at St. John's Church for Joseph Roman Beelner, age 57, of Wasco who passed away August 10, 2011 in Shafter. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 16, at 10am also at St. John's Church. Fr. Rod Craig will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday, August 15 from 2pm until 5pm at Peters Funeral Home.
