Josefina Gutierrez a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away March 23, 2009. She was born in Miami, Arizona on February 20, 1921 to Piedad (Contreras) and Concepcion Hernandez. Josefina came to Arvin in 1967 and made it her home for the last 43 years of her life. She had many friends and acquaintances whom she enjoyed going to the Senior Center with. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, going to the casino and shopping for clothes. She was a woman who had a very sweet smile, showed much kindness and a gentle hand. When visiting her, she had her radio on in the background while sitting outside with her friends on the lawn. The other pass time was tuning into her novelas when ever near a television. She is survived by sons Ricardo Jr. and Rodolfo; daughters Anita, Carmen and Maria Elena; numerous grand and great grandchildren along with many friends she enjoyed spent time with. Father Jorge De La Torre will officiate mass of the resurrection on Friday, March 26, 2010 – 10am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, interment will immediately follow at South Kern Cemetery District. Visitation will be at Arvin Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, March 25th from 2-8pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm.
