IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jose Trevino
Urieta
May 31, 1973 – December 25, 2012
Jose Treviño Urieta passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012 in Wasco, leaving behind his five young children, his companion of 15 years and mother to all five children, a younger brother and many more loved ones. Jose was born on May 5, 1973 in El Conejo, Guerrero, Mexico to Salvador Treviño and Josefina Urieta. Jose came to the United States in his early twenties and settled in Wasco where he worked as a laborer in several of the local agricultural crops. He worked in the almond groves and on the hulling line, he worked nights in the grape vineyards – sometimes working for up to 26 hours, he also worked in the rose orchards and in the cotton fields. Jose's exceptional work ethic earned him respect and praise from all levels in his field, he never turned down a job, and he made many acquaintances that way. Several of those people were shocked and saddened by the news of Jose's sudden passing. Jose worked long, hard hours because he liked knowing he gave all he could every day. Then one day, his hard working way-of-life took on a greater significance when he met Rodolfina in Wasco. Together, they would spend 15 years bringing 5 beautiful children into the world and raising them with the same work ethic and commitment. Jose took on the role of father with a great sense of pride, loving devotion, and responsibility; working with even more purpose to provide for his growing family. Jose's other passion was raising roosters for sport. He took great care in raising his roosters and always took them to competitions with the utmost confidence that they would come out victorious. Unfortunately, Jose wasn't always the winner, and some of his losses were costly. One of those costly times, he wagered all of his paycheck earnings and lost. He brought Rodolfina the somber news and all she did was tell him that it was okay, they would make it through the good and not so good times together. Jose would thankfully reply that God brought her into his life for moments like these. Jose Treviño Urieta is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador Treviño and Josefina Urieta. He is survived by his companion of 15 years and mother to his five children, Rodolfina Rodriguez; daughters, Josefina, Rocio, and Marisol Treviño; sons, Jose Antonio and Gustavo Treviño; brother, Victorio Herrera Urieta; and a host of other family members and friends. A visitation for Jose Treviño Urieta will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco from 2pm to 8pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church at 10am with interment to follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
