Jose Bladimir Romero was born September 5, 1955 in La Union, El Salvador to Gregorio and Fidelina (Velasquez) Romero. He immigrated to California to the Bakersfield area 27 years ago and settled in Lamont. He married Joanna Alvarez in 1989. He worked for Grimway Farms, first doing farm labor then becoming a mechanic, working on forklifts and other equipment, which he did for the last 18 years. He was a family man who took pride in caring for his family's needs and working hard all his life. These were the most important things to him, family and work. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Joanna Romero of Lamont; son, Tomas Romero of Lamont; daughters, Sonia Romero and husband Jaime Ventura of Bakersfield, Brenda Romero of Lamont and Perla Luevano and husband Erwin of Texas; brother, Jesus Romero of El Salvador; sisters Lucy Garcia of Texas and Blanca Romero of El Salvador; 5 grandchildren, Noe Romero, Jay Ventura, Julian Luevano, Samantha Romero and Dustin Ventura; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna. An evening service under the direction of Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, Lamont will be held Tuesday, September 11 at 6pm at Iglesia de Dios, 1227 Miller in Bakersfield. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 13 at 9:30am at Greenlawn Cemetery, South West on Panama Lane. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 11 from 2pm until 8pm at Iglesia de Dios.
