Jack' E. Carter, Jr
May 19, 1932 – March 2, 2010
Jack Carter was born May 19, 1932 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Allie (Gatlin) and Jordan Carter, Sr. The family moved to Wasco when he was in elementary school and he graduated from Wasco Union High School. While still attending Wasco High, Jack worked as custodian and bus driver. He also worked for the Wasco Police Department before moving to Salinas in the early 1960's. Jack started his 45 year career with Greyhound as a bus driver while living in Salinas and he was based out of the Los Angeles Station. Jack and Ruby (Willhite) Henry were married in March of 1983 in Las Vegas and they have made Bakersfield their home for the last 21 years. Jack enjoyed repairing bicycles and working in the yard. Jack was a member of the Salinas Masons and served as Past Master. Jack is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ruby Carter; daughter, Terry Carter; sons, Calvin Carter and Greg Carter and wife Lorri; step-children, Diane Vizzard, Alan Henry and Martha Green; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and brothers, Bill Carter and wife Eunice and Mickey Carter. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curt. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 5, at 10am for Jordan E. Carter, Jr., age 77, who passed away March 2, 2010 in Bakersfield. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4 from 2pm – 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
