JoNell Stearman, a long-time resident of Shafter, died Thursday the 23rd of September at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital. Born in 1928 in Baird, Texas, JoNell was one of eight children. She married Doyle Stearman in 1946 in Muleshoe, Texas, and moved to Shafter, California in 1948 with her two boys, Doyle Dean and Danny Joe. JoNell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother when she passed on to the Lord. JoNell loved to travel and enjoy life with her family. She loved to cook, crochet, play games, and take pictures of the people and world around her. Truly altruistic, JoNell loved and took care of those around her and always put others before herself. JoNell is preceded in death by her mother and father, Joe and Benita McWilliams; brothers Drinnon and Olin McWilliams, and her daughter Kathy Stearman. She is survived by her husband Doyle Stearman; her sons: Doyle Dean, his spouse Madeleine, and Danny Joe Stearman; her sisters: Jessie Lee Ricketts, Cleda Richardson, Laverne Crawford, and Geneva Richardson; her brother Otha McWilliams; and grandchildren: Marc Stearman, spouse Terri; Neal Stearman, spouse Melissa; Deana Cullen-Stearman, spouse Mark; Angela Stearman, spouse Jimmy; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A 10:00am Chapel Service will be held for JoNell Stearman, age 82, of Shafter, on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Peters Funeral Home with interment immediately following in Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm Sunday, September 26th at Peters Funeral Home.
