John E. Ross was born December 11, 1945 in Bakersfield, California to Thurman and Rosalee Ross. The family traveled between McAlister, Oklahoma and Wasco when John was young. He graduated from South High School in Bakersfield with the Class of 1963 and furthered his education at Southern California School of Theology. John married Linda Dolph June 27, 1966, and they would have celebrated 49 years of marriage on this year's anniversary. John began his ministry with the Pentecostal Church of God, which included serving at the Bethesda Temple Pentecostal Church of God in Santa Paula and the Wasco Pentecostal Church of God. Pastor Ross has pastored the last 30 years at Westside Family Fellowship in Wasco. For 25 years, John served as Presbyter for the Southern California District and on the National General Board of the Pentecostal Church of God. John helped to replant churches in McFarland and Santa Paula during the last 10 years. During the early years of his ministry, John also worked as a truck driver in Santa Paula and later for Wasco Concrete Pipe. He recently retired from Wasco Union High School after 14 years of service as a bus driver. John enjoyed fishing, riding horses, and golfing when he had the time, but it his greatest fulfillment came from shepherding and loving the people he served. He loved spending time with his family and looked forward to family vacations. John was preceded in death by his father, Thurman. Surviving family include his wife, Linda; mother, Rosalee; son, Bobby Ross and wife Estela; daughters, Stephanie & husband Jeff Wymer, Cheryl & husband Darin Fager, and Nancian & husband Roque Munoz; brother, Ken Ross and wife Linda; sister, Deanna and husband Bonner Boel; grandchildren, Ross and Samantha Wymer, Tim Wymer, Rachel and Mason Fager, Alex Allen, Ariah Hasha, Robert and Abby Ross, James and John Munoz, Kayleigh Munoz; and great grandchild to be, Luke William Wymer. One of John's greatest visions was not completed before his passing, the Children's Ministries classroom building project was near to his heart. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 3, at 10am at Westside Family Fellowship for John E. Ross, age 69, of Wasco who passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2015. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 2 from 5pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Interment will be private at Wasco Memorial Park.
