John William Rhoades was born in England, Arkansas on March 18, 1930 to parents, Claude Rhoades and Lonnie Rhoades (Cash). John served his country proudly during the Korean War as a mechanic in the Air force. John had a strong work ethic and perseverance and until the age of 80 was working as a security guard. He enjoyed his freedom and continued to be able to drive himself wherever he needed to be. John was an excellent critic of others' driving skills and never passed up the opportunity to complain about how fast his driver was going. John would often wake the entire family at 4am with the television loudly set on the GSN network. He spent a lot of his free time tending his vegetable garden, watching western movies, listening to music and attending church with his family. John is survived by his three sons, James Rhoades, Gary Lee Rhoades, and Larry Dwayne Rhoades; Daughter, Tammy Rhoades; sister, Patty Coffman; brother, Roy Lynn Rhoades; grandchildren, Danielle Lynn Rhoades, Jamie Lee Rhoades and Nicholas James Rhoades. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frankie Rhoades. A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Beverly Chambers Perello on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 3pm at the Home Fellowship Church in Shafter, Ca. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
