John Carlos Hernandez was born on November 4, 1940 in Bakersfield CA to parents, Jose and Josephine Hernandez. John attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School, where he played the bugle, and then graduated from Garces Memorial High School in 1959. John enjoyed attending all of his nieces and nephews sporting events but he especially enjoyed attending Garces Rams football games. John was a man of simplicity and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother; Edmund Hernandez and wife Helen; sisters, Loretta and husband Charlie Alderete, Rachel and husband Simon De La Rosa Jr., Dolores and husband Walter L. Still, Lupe and husband Roland Ralph Gaona, Frances Crane, Margaret and husband Octavio Tamayo, Elizabeth and husband Robert Lira Sr. John is also survived by his 35 nieces and nephews, 60 great nieces and nephews, and 16 great great nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Josephine; brothers-in-law, John Crane and Angel John Rodriguez; and a niece, Rose Marie Rodriguez. Pallbearers at the service will be Angelo Joseph Rodriguez, Simon De La Rosa III, Mark G. Lamas, Eric Aaron Gaona, Rob Lira Jr. and, Edmond Gerard Hernandez II, honorary pallbearers will be Lea Patricia Luque, Goddaughter and Shauna Lofty. Visitation for John will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 2-8pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm at the Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary. Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Father John Schmoll will officiate. Interment will at Union Cemetery.
