John Henry Glenn, Jr. was born to John and Laura (Harless) Glenn on April 17, 1938, in Coolidge, AZ. He passed away November 6, 2018, in Bakersfield, CA. He is preceded in death by a son John Michael; his parents; two sisters Pat and Reba; and a grandson Shawn. He is survived by his wife Lettie; son Matthew; daughters Anna Balentine (Steve), Lettie "Bunny" LeMay (Alan), and Lisa Tatman (Dondi); two sisters Inez Fowler and Nita Rice; as well as 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. John was married to his high school sweetheart for 62 years, and together they raised four children. He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and camping. There will be a viewing on Monday, November 12, at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E Lerdo Hwy, Shafter, from 2:00-5:00 PM. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, at 10:00 AM, at the Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
